Life Moves is an unfolding story of my journey to discover and create what I truly want from life and to investigate the possibility of setting up a coaching practice without using traditional marketing methods.
For those who like the hard facts here’s a brief synopsis of my adult life:
Suffering from terminal boredom, I took evening classes, after a couple of years working as a clerk/secretary, and thinking “there must be more to life than this”. Used the qualifications to get into College which resulted in a first in Psychology and Law.
Did research in a University in South Africa for a year and then a Masters at Cambridge in Criminology.
Worked as an Occupational Psychologist for British Airways for a few years, was offered a senior management position and left when I realised that all I was interested in was the title, salary and car – not the job. Worked in the same field as a consultant during which time I became a single parent when my daughter was 2 weeks old.
Sold my house and moved to the States looking for “it” and trying lots of New Age type things. Studied music briefly.
Lived on Gozo (one of the Maltese islands) for a few months then, because I couldn’t think of anything else to do, set off to fulfill one of my life long dreams – backpacking around the world.
Took a year doing that with my 5 year old and met my partner whilst visiting Fiji. Came back to the UK and eventually settled in Brighton where I had my son who is now 12 years old.
Discovered coaching about 10 years ago and thought that this was what I’d been looking for so did the training, set up a practice, but soon got bored. In the meantime I’d created a website and made some money though internet marketing so stuck with that for the last decade. Have been bored most of that time which isn’t surprising since I’ve been sitting in front of a computer, on my own, day in and day out.
Suffered from clinical depression for many years and wrote an ebook on recovery. See http://depression-recovery-life.com/personal-story.html for the full depression story. (And I apologise in advance for information on the site being out of date. It’s one of the things on my “to do” list that I never seem to get around to).
At the end of April, following a Retreat for Scanners, I decided I wanted to move back into working with people.
Made a commitment to that and within a couple of weeks I was signing up for Steves Chandler’s coaching school in Phoenix which continues. Read my blog posts to follow my progress with this. If you want to start at the very beginning of the blog go direct to “What Shall I Do Next“?
MY main focus now is in experimenting with creating my life as I dream it could be. Building a coaching practice is secondary to that and will only continue to be a goal as long as it supports my main life goals. See my post “Improving My Goals Setting success” for more about this.
